Leading globally matters locally to Tennessee. Great to be joined by Special Representative Nina Hachigian & Tim Kelly in Chattanooga yesterday for a conversation on how America’s global leadership helps protect Tennessee’s interests – from international stability to prosperity here at home.
I had a wonderful time speaking to dynamic students Chattanooga State Community College!
Students bring fresh perspectives and new ideas. It’s crucial that we include them as we make a globally connected world.
What happens globally matters locally to communities around the country. That's why it's great to be celebrating @Louisville's first Global Engagement Day with Mayor Craig Greenberg & Special Representative Nina Hachigian to uplift how development and diplomacy impact security & economy here at home
Thrilled to be in Louisville with Mayor Craig Greenberg for the city’s first Global Engagement Day!
Cities and states are not insulated from global affairs, and they stand to gain and influence so much when they engage. Today, global challenges and opportunities are local.
It was great to chat with Council on Foreign Relations and Gabrielle Sierra on city diplomacy! So many of our global challenges impact local communities, and we need to listen to their perspectives when addressing them.

Had a productive meeting today with Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative, a group of 244 U.S. and Canadian local leaders working to protect and restore the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River Basin.
Groups like this are crucial to preserving our natural resources and improving local economies.
Global food demand will double by 2050. China far outpaces USG public investment in agriculture R&D. Historically, this was our comparative advantage. We must keep this advantage, which benefits 🇺🇸 farmers and our partners overseas.

Great to meet President Luis Abinader. The Dominican Republic is an example of how strong democracies that prioritize anti-corruption can deliver growth and prosperity that benefits all citizens. Just one reason we're excited to have the DR host the Tenth #SummitAmericas in 2025!
