Today is Tagore’s birthday. I realized that over the years, 3 of my feature films are related to him- on his most celebrated short story (Kabuliwala), for the first time him being represented on screen (Kadambari) and another on his stolen Nobel medal (Nobel Chor).

Given the extremely undependable nature of film reviews in Bengali media (barring a few) here is an indication of the quality of a film from Bookmyshow. Above 9- Brilliant
8-9- Good.
7-8- Mediocre.
Below 7- Bad.

A New York Times report says that “Almost all of the most watched movies on streaming services are movies that were first released theatrically.” I do agree. The buzz of a successful theatrical release has a much longer tail-compared to a weekend buzz of a streaming only release.
