📡 The installation of the new #fluxtower at our Wombat Stringybark Eucalypt SuperSite has officially been completed! Located in the Wombat State Forest near Ballarat, the original 35m tall flux tower installed in 2010, blew down during heavy storms in 2021.

Next up for #WildlifeWednesday is the endangered Duck's-head Wasp-orchid (Chiloglottis anaticeps), found only in montane forests in northern NSW. Male thynnine wasps pollinate this orchid when they are deceived into thinking it is a female wasp to mate with! Pic: Gavin Phillips.
🍂National vegetation condition fell 7% compared to the previous year but remained above the 2000–2022 average for a third year, by 3%. Vegetation growth rates are estimated from a combination of weather & satellite data.
