Very disappointed in the veto of PDAB that would have lowered prescription drug costs for Virginians. Karrie Delaney has been a legislative champion - I was proud to be a co-patron on HB570 and pledge to continue to work with her to reduce the cost of prescription medications.

Yesterday, the Governor sadly vetoed my bill to establish a Prescription Drug Affordability Board and make sure that cost is never a barrier to life-saving medication in Virginia. Read more below:

My mom couldn’t afford to lose pay to help me with my recovery. As such, I handled that on my own. It wasn’t easy, being a high school student with no car and only one working hand. I took a multiple 1.5 hour trip on the bus to the hospital for physical therapy. 2/3

When I ripped my tendons after falling on glass, was hospitalized and required surgery to reconstruct the tendons in my hand. I also required intensive physical therapy to learn how to move my hand. My mom’s employer did not offer Paid Family and Medical Leave at the time. 1/3

Bad for Virginia, bad for business, bad for his own politics. People want to move to states that have paid leave. It makes for a more competitive Commonwealth.
