Great to see lots of Southern Marsh orchids, Dingy Skipper, adder, slow worms (remains!!) and lots of wild flowers colonising the cleared areas!

Productive day with our excellent Restore the Thaw volunteers. They worked hard to clear ponds to make them safe for school trip visitors, cleared a large amount of the non native and invasive plant species three cornered leek AND enjoyed a hunt to check for slow worms !

What’s going on here then?

We’re really proud to support the Restore the Thaw Landscape through funding from Welsh Government #LocalPlacesforNature scheme to deliver a programme of engagement training and activities across the Thaw catchment and encourage people to take action for nature in the Vale #valenature

Great to meet new faces at the Restore the Thaw Landscape partnership meeting, sharing what incredible work the partners and volunteers have been carrying out over the last 9 months of the project

Today at #RestoreTheThaw - Restore the Thaw Landscape I heard about 12,154 trees having been planted, in field corners, as hedges and gap filling, and riparian tree planting #HedgesAndEdges .

4,500 trees donated by Woodland Trust🌳, another 10,000 promised. Vale Council 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇺🇦 are developing a tree

Great two days training with Pete Hill Amphibian and Reptile Conservation for Restore the Thaw Landscape and other countryside officers!

Saw all 4 native reptiles at Parc Slip NR .

An added bonus was that we found just the second known population of Yellow-shouldered Nomad Bee (Nomada ferruginata) in the vice-county of Glamorgan (VC41). This bee is the specialist cuckoo of the Small Sallow Mining Bee (Andrena praecox).

It was an amazing day - thanks so much Liam ! So happy to see so many of these fantastic beetles!

The dance of the Green longhorn moth today at Amelia Trust Farm today whilst we were clearing footpath with Restore the Thaw @ Innovate Trust

Look like fairies dancing in the sunshine!

The very rare parasitoid wasp Cotesia bignelli larvae emerging from a marsh fritillary caterpillar (its only host species) earlier today. Wasp larvae would have been inside the caterpillar since Aug/Sept last year eating away at all non-essential parts until today.
