So painful: @ap discloses taking funding from both Gates Foundation and Melinda's venture fund Pivotal Ventures in this article--which sources info from people Gates/Pivotal funds and doesn't talk to any critics. Thalia Beaty

I wonder how many Gates Foundation employees sit on school boards. Here's one example on primary ballot today in MoCo (just outside of DC). Her campaign is essentially Gates's stale party line: schools are failing and 'We need a major boost in innovation'

Melinda presided over Gates Foundation's work for two decades--publicly championed it and publicly defended it. Her substance & worldview are well known and organized around the privileges of the billionaire class to buy a seat at the decision-making table (& call this charity)
Tim Schwab Melinda French Gates The new name will be the Gates Foundation. According to Bill.
'Quit' is the right word. Seems a little too easy for Melinda French Gates to jump ship at a time when a growing body of critics are calling on the Gates Foundation to repair all the damage it has caused over the last two decades

Under Melinda French Gates's leadership at Gates Foundation, there was never gender equality on the board. W/ her departure, we're prob going to see the foundation scrambling to correct this imbalance--and lots of other face-saving measures to paper over growing internal instability
Mark Suzman Melinda French Gates Now there will be only 2 women on that Gates Foundation board - & check out who 1 of them will be.
Kind of funny, or fitting, that @hillaryclinton was the first person to give Melinda an atta' girl for leaving the Gates Foundation...but maybe not a smart move.
The Gates Foundation has given nearly $700 million to various foundations bearing the Clinton name
Really bummed to see The Seattle Times has the exact same boiler-plate story as every other outlet right now. The local newspaper should have the best contacts and coverage of this Seattle-based Gates Foundation.
(Yes, ST takes funding from Gates...)

Serious question: to what extent are they going to remove Melinda French Gates's name from the foundation. Will it still be legally named the 'Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation?' Are they going to re-do all the logos (which are literally etched in stone...)?
Her divorce from @billgates made Melinda French Gates an independent multi-billionaire--current net worth around $11b.
Her divorce this morning from Gates Foundation appears even more lucrative. She's taking an additional $12.5 billion👇
No one should control this much money
In June 2023 I predicted Melinda French Gates would leave Gates Foundation (which she did today) b/c--how can she expect anyone to take seriously her woman-forward brand of philanthropy if her philanthropic partner is @billgates?
Point of intrigue: it's also possibl Bill pushed her out
FWIW, I did predict this: Melinda steps down from Gates Foundation.
This follows Warren Buffett stepping down.
I think we should read into this.
And I think you should read my book, 'The Bill Gates Problem.'
Accusations of 'intellectual theft' against Columbia president also seem like an issue for Gates Foundation----b/c Shafik sits on Gates's board.
Gates is a major funder of scientific research (30,000+ articles). 'Lead by example' is important, no?
