April 15, 1912, At 2.20am Titanic founders with the loss of 1,496 passengers and crew. The survivors (712) were rescued by the Cunard liner Carpathia which answered Titanic’s wireless distress calls and raced to her last reported position of 41. 46N, 50.14 W.

April 14, 1912 @ 11:40pm Titanic’s look-out Frederick Fleet, spotted what he later described as something ‘about the size of two tables’ lying directly in the vessel’s path.
He immediately rang the ship’s crow’s nest bell three times and telephoned the Bridge

April 11, 1912 Ada and Elsie Doling and Edwin “Fred” Wheeler (man servant of the George Vanderbilt) are captured strolling on the boat deck while the Titanic is anchored of Queenstown, Ireland.

The ladies would survive the sinking, Mr. Wheeler would not.

At 1.30pm Titanic departed Queenstown.

Titanic arrived at Cherbourg at 6.35pm. Fifteen 1st Class & nine 2nd Class passengers disembarked. 142 1st Class, 30 2nd Class and 102 3rd Class passengers embarked. Titanic departed 8.10pm for Queenstown, Ireland.

April 10, 1912 RMS Titanic left Southampton’s White Star Dock shortly after midday on her maiden voyage to New York via Cherbourg and Queenstown. Her commander was Captain Edward J. Smith, RNR.
Onboard were an estimated 1,846 persons.

April 6, 1912 White Star Marine Superintendent recruits the crew required for the sailing to New York. Following the coal strike which forced vessels to be laid up at port many crewmen, after an enforced period of unemployment, were eager to join the new vessel.
