I find it very disheartening that RTE and others just fluff up a press release without actually checking what SMEs think about this news. Amazon are no friends of small business

Please support your local bookshop. Without them there is nowhere for our writing to go. We lost so many record shops and it really damaged our music scene. I hope we don't underestimate the real risk to our literary culture if we don't support our book shops.

Bookshops like Kennys also directly support and platform Irish writers in a way that Amazon simply wouldn't.

This book published in Ireland 1977. I silently say a thank you so frequently for the abolition of VAT on books. I think it’s a huge and acknowledged factor in the development of literature in Ireland over the last 45 years! Great story(ies) behind it too!
