Today we urge our members and followers to sign this open letter, currently 1700 signatures strong. It calls on UCEA to tomorrow in negotiations. It continues because they are making it do so.

This is a welcome, if overdue, development.

Just last week UCEA were refusing to return to negotiations - your support has changed that.

We’ll keep you updated on any developments. Stand firm.

At our AGM last week the branch overwhlemingly passed a motion asking NEC to 'deprioritise' Congress motion 5 on Ukraine, and heard from noted historian of the region Simon Pirani. We will continue our work to support Ukrainians in and beyond our university community.

Back in May Cambridge University took the lead in calling on UCEA to negotiate with UCU. The VC's letter today should sound the alarm for the sector as a whole

'We have staff now at the University of Leeds, this world-class institution, using food banks'

Our members at Leeds University UCU told ITV News why they've been forced to strike

Leeds management refused to even give an interview

Bullying and thuggish.

UoM SLT are saying they will increase deductions for the marking boycott, from an already disproportionate 50%, to 100%, just for not notifying participation at a random time of their choosing.

Clearly punitive, legally dodgy, brutal and offensive.

VC’s are now being humiliated for their actions in the national press 🥴🗞

Students know who is to blame for this disruption and deleting comments won’t change this

It’s about time you start urging UCEA to re-negotiate

Our colleagues at Kent university are facing down compulsory redundancies and, it appears, management willing to renege on their commitments. Please sign their petition.

new entry for most disproportionate MAB deduction? I've just been told I was docked 50% of my wages for the week 20th-28th April because I didn't walk up the stairs to registry and sign off some exam papers I'd already written and submitted

My employer SOAS University of London has snatched £1.5k from my gross pay as 'strike' deductions for April. Reader, we *did not take a single day's strike action in April*. We boycotted marking as ASOS. I did all work except some moderation near the end of the month. This is wage theft
