Visited the UNOPS-built Cold Storage unit in Herat, part of the Herat Agricultural Value Chain Project project funded by The Gov't of Japan. Meeting today with Amb. Takeyoshi Kuramaya to discuss how we can expand on our work together.

In Herat, Afghanistan, I saw the impact of our UNOPS-World Bank Community Resilience & Livelihoods project in rural communities, supporting 32K households with short-term employment opportunities with projects (roads, irrigation) that benefited 119 communities.

I'm in Herat, Afghanistan, witnessing firsthand UNOPS response to the earthquake. Working alongside partners, we're focused on rescue, recovery, & debris clearance & immediate cash support to 48K affected families. Immediate and mid-term recovery remains our priority.

Today's meeting with Afghan civil society organizations was pivotal. Committed to enhancing UNOPS engagement, we recognize their crucial role . Their frontline insights help us better serve Afghan people’s needs. Together, we aim for more local solutions.

Had productive meetings in Afghanistan with key partners including World Bank, EUinAfghanistan, and United Nations Special Representatives. We discussed how United NationsOPS can assist even more on humanitarian and basic needs initiatives, reinforcing our united approach to urgent needs.

Visited Afghanistan's first toll-free humanitarian hotline, Awaaz Call Center, managed by UNOPS, partnering with 138 humanitarian agencies. With 412,000+ calls handled, reaching 2.5M individuals, and 9,700+ feedback cases, this is a lifeline to many who need it most.

Arrived in Afghanistan to meet our UNOPS Afghanistan team, who run complex operations supporting millions. Their dedication improves lives & in disaster recovery, ensuring effective aid distribution. Proud of their resilience under very difficult circumstances.

I will arrive Kabul tomorrow for a mission that was already planned to visit several UNOPS projects, namely on the areas affected by the recent earthquake. Today’s catastrophic floods further enhances fragility in #Afghanistan . My solidarity to all those affected.

I was pleased to meet and have important discussions with Ambassador Mohamed Al-Emadi, Chairman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Qatar Gaza Reconstruction Committee, in Qatar today.

Just had a productive meeting with Khalifa Al-Kuwari, Director General of Qatar Fund For Development صندوق قطر للتنمية. Together, UNOPS and Qatar have successfully supported crucial projects and we look forward to continuing our partnership to help where it's needed most.

Good conversations with Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Qatar Director of International Organisations, Sheikha Hanouf Abdulrahman Al-Thani today. UNOPS is ready to expand cooperation with Qatar & keen to drive impactful aid to those in urgent need.
