“The closer we get Test cricket vanishing from the non-Big Three teams the punchier we need to be. Without Test cricket our world becomes a less diverse, less rich place. We need all formats helping each other.”

Spot on, Lawrence Booth. Our annual Wisden Almanack ep is now live.

Enid Bakewell was at Lord's this week to collect the Wisden Trophy for the best Test performance of 1968. Representing England against New Zealand at Christchurch, she scored 114 and 66 not out, and took 3-68 and 5-56. She is still playing cricket at the age of 83.

The new @Wisden is out tomorrow. For Guardian sport, I've done a mini-memoir about writing for Wisden, then working for it, and finally becoming the shortest-serving editor in its long history – or, as one of the writers put it, 'Wisden's George Lazenby'

Wonderful to be at Lords last night for the Wisden Almanack dinner - and especially great to see the living legend that is Enid Bakewell in attendance 😊
