Lovely start to 2023 at The Hunterian Zoology Museum with a new intervention, labels added outside cases showing the IUCN Red List category of the specimens inside. 1 in 5 of the species on display are threatened. Inspired by #COP15 and hoping for #30x30
Much fun was had at the Zoology Museum Halloween party last Friday, I got my carnival bat out for another flight, good pumpkin contest too. UofG_SBOHVM
Lead aprons all round! Fascinating morning with Dr Eilidh Ferguson in UofG Anatomy Dept. Carefully and respectfully x-raying skulls for undergrad project to determine age of the person when they died. A useful method for learning more about the once known people under our care.
Sweeping under the cases in the The Hunterian Zoology Museum and this little guy came out to have a look around. Maybe a new species of #housespider , Tegenaria museumica rather than domestica? 😉
The The Hunterian Zoology Museum has been closed all week due to electrical work in the building so I took advantage and did some cleaning. Our Nile #Crocodile needed a wee brush and vaccum and is feeling all the better for it.
Weird job of the week, giving the The Hunterian Zoology Museum Galapagos tortoise a pedicure! Needed a sample to send away for DNA testing to hopefully work out which island it came from so we'll know if it's a species that is extinct, rare, endangered or doing fine.
