Champagne is synonymous with celebration and beer with Sunday football. But the data are clear that alcohol isn't good for us. Why won't we give it up?

.Walgreens: I 'love'* typing in all my info to sign up for vaccinations and then having to fill out, by hand, a form with the same information. Come on!

* 'love' = do not like at all

I'm going to make up a term for a thing that might exist (and you should tell me if it does and where): 'prescription alignment.' It would allow a patient a one-time shift *earlier* of prescriptions so they align for renewal on the same day.

Innovation's benefits (especially short-term) tend to 'flow to those already privileged by the system... innovation is only accessible to those who can afford it.'

The (in)equity dimension of the innovation/access tradeoff deserves more attention.

This is important and not about me, despite starting out that way. Read to the end and stop dismissing patients you don't know.

Didn't everyone know this would happen? It's kind of par for the course for software vendors, no? (I've seen in many times.)

Creating a freshman econ elective 'Current Issues in US Healthcare'. what are your fav podcast/ blog/ video explainers on this topic that are not super research-y?

(I'll put the syllabus online - those making suggestions can copy 100% of it, no attribution needed!)

I think I can sum up a lot of commentary thusly:

She was queen for a long time. A lot happened. Good times. Bad times. Here are some pics.

Now he is king and things are uncertain. (Sad or angry pic here.) It could be a rough ride. We'll see!

Medicare coverage increases health care use. But are these changes due to use of high-value or low-value care??

In Health Services Research paper, Rishi Wadhera, MD MPP, JeahJung, and I examined the effects of Medicare coverage at age 65 on use of high-value and low-value care (bit.ly/3BpOoye)
