Overwatch has really proven beneficial in some canola programs, taking pressure off in crop herbicides. This high pressure headland would be out of control without it. Always amazes me the pink ryegrass still sucks up clethodim fine and dies.

Great to be forced into the saddle following some very useful rain. In my small patch some clients only just have enough moisture for establishment, whilst others to the north and west won’t finish sowing for quite some time 😳

Australia's largest research study findings over 18 replicated field trials show it isn’t worth retaining hybrid canola seed to F2 across a range of different herbicide technologies in a bid to reduce costs - use the link to read the technical paper. bit.ly/3wifiJP

There are 2 new strains:
🌿Group E (lentil, field pea, vetch)
🫘Group F (fabas).

Proud moment sowing hallmark lentils with new acid tolerant rhizobium. Our team brought this to nsw, GRDC North backed us with a scoping study, then engaged a larger team inc NSW DPI Agronomy to bring to market. Awesome outcome for growers 👏👍

Interested in barley breeders comments on these suggested sowing date targets. Imo this is way out and needs getting right. Eg planet suits Anzac Day onwards here imo 🤔NSW DPI Agronomy

Results highlighting the benefit of sowing large diameter seed as canola seed depth increases. Key points
* biggest gains in est% came via removing <1.6mm seed
* large seed = larger cotyledons = quicker biomass production

Any machinery manufactures with their ears on out there- this guy is on the money, but instead of a car it’s a picker or header or air seeder or what ever else that’s malfunction has the potential to cost individual farm businesses 7 figure losses depending on the timing

Using a single disc seeder? On average, there was a 17%, 28% & 37% reduction in canola establishment as MAP increased from 50, 100 and 150kg/ha compared to Nil MAP. Be aware of your SBU%. GRDC North NSW DPI Agronomy

Are you sowing enough canola seeds? Here’s some results derived from an GRDC project that could help adjust seeding rates (kg/ha) based on small, medium or large seed size. Hope it helps.

Is anyone running the 12m equaliser bar with the seed and fert bins on the A frame? Pros and cons? More clients buying these but all separate carts and larger bars. The smaller version would be 👌 for irrigators.
