Empowered and determined, the women's branch Bethnal Green and Stepney Labour is out in full force knocking on doors and engaging with the community about Sadiq Khan and Unmesh Desai AM. We stand proudly in support of Mayor Khan, who has pledged to lead the charge in tackling violence against women.

Today I wrote to the Council’s Monitoring Officer (MO) for urgent clarification regarding this matter which is now subject of public scrutiny.

Last night budget Council meeting saw female Labour councillors fearing for their safety, following intimidation and shouting form the public gallery. The chaos that followed highlighted the need for urgent safety measures for local politicians Tower Hamlets Labour Group LGA Labour Wahiba Ahmed

Today was grand opening of Sarah Chapman House. This is a legacy of former mayor and Tower Hamlets Labour Group administration. it will provide desperately needed Council homes for our residents on the waiting list. We are proud of our record of delivering Council homes.

Really frustrating our Full Council is not going to be able to debate this motion. This terrible conflict is of concern to thousands of our residents. If we can debate a motion on Brexit, we should be able to debate this too. We will continue to press for an immediate ceasefire
