We've got a new paper (led by Dan Major-Smith (@djsmith90.bsky.social)) in WellcomeOpenResearch, detailing how to create synthetic data to help promote open-science practices within research using longitudinal population-based studies. With ALSPAC (@C090s) as an example: wellcomeopenresearch.org/articles/9-57/… 1/1
Childhood #trauma can have an #intergenerational impact, but not always. Some children are biologically more susceptible than others. Check out our recent paper examining how #epigenetic differences may explain these differences in susceptibility: cambridge.org/core/journals/…
Take a look at this impactful paper arguing for a new approach to mental health that acknowledges #adolescence as a critical developmental period for early identification and treatment of emerging mental disorders.

Can scientists be taught how to choose good projects?
I took a fantastic class taught by Michael Fischbach last quarter where the foundational hypothesis is: Yes, they can!
And I continually come back to these core insights as I think about project choice and direction in my 2nd year of…
Childhood adversity is a potent determinant of health associated with altered DNA methylation signatures. Does adversity have persistent epigenetic associations across childhood and adolescence? Thanks Dr. Nadine Burke Harris for the call-out on our research (led by Alex Lussier) on sensitive periods for the effects of childhood adversity and health. We hope it inspires others to study developmental timing differences in the effect of ACEs, which can inform policies/interventions.
I can't understate how cool it is to have a commentary written on this work. Great insights and thoughts by Daniel Lin and Valsamma Eapen. Read it here!

Really enjoyed your commentary on our work Daniel Lin. Thank you for some excellent insights!
Very interesting new study on 'Timing of #childhood #adversity is associated with unique #epigenetic patterns in #adolescents ' and an excellent summary🧵.
Congratulations to the authors!
Comprehensive new analysis on developmentally sensitive associations between adversity and methylation. Fantastic work, Alex Lussier and everyone!
Paper out today in The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health - led by the supremely talented Alex Lussier - reporting on results from #ALSPAC investigating #sensitiveperiods for #adversity on epigenetic patterns. Read it, share your thoughts, and reach out if you want to collaborate in a meta-analysis.
