I am honored to have attended & addressed the extraordinary gathering at which Dr. Dr. Amra Sabic-El-Rayess 🇧🇦 presented her new book 'Three summers', but also spoke about how to overcome hatred, vindictiveness or the radicalization of views. After Bosnian war experience & trauma ✍️🍀
UAntwerpenFLW Erol Avdovic In the current situation - when the violation of human rights tends to be normalized again in so many places - Europe can afford less than ever to neglect the past, the present and the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina. 7/7
UAntwerpenFLW Very glad also to have met the Bosnian Ambassador to Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Erol Avdovic, who closed the lecture with beautiful and important words. 4/
UAntwerpenFLW And about storytelling, of course, as a way of sharing humanity. It could be felt that Amra touched deep emotions with many people - with and without a Bosnian background - in the audience.
And I was deeply impressed by the lecture Amra gave tonight at the UAntwerpenFLW. About her experiences as a young girl during the genocide, about patterns of radicalization and how to stop them by inclusive forms of education and simple acts of kindness. 2/
I am the happy owner of one of the first copies of Dr. Amra Sabic-El-Rayess's #ThreeSummers to have landed in Europe! 1/
