I dk what it’s like at other encampments but the students here are without a doubt making education for themselves on their own terms: holding discussion groups, watching films, reading things together. It’s so marvelous—in no way is the encampment a discontinuation of education

For months people of conscience in the US have struggled to know what to do as their goverment perpetrates genocide and the world abandons Gaza. Right now, there is an answer: join the students, support them, defend them, and shut it down until every single demand is met

I know that this starts in media res but what on earth could a faculty member be doing on the campus where they teach that could merit such a violent response?

Our students pay a lot of money and acquire lifelong, life changing debt to attend these universities.

The least we can do is listen to them when they say how they don't want their tuition dollars spent. #divest

The minimum wage is still $7/hr, housing, health care and college is a debt trap, we’re paying Israel to blow up kids and hospitals in Gaza, cities are building playgrounds for cops and the planet is boiling. Maybe let’s start there to address “uneasiness and unhappiness” ???
