It’s been a cracking week here in Cumbria with 2 osprey chicks hatching this week at Foulshaw Moss. Waiting eagerly for the third – any day now! Here’s chick 2 getting its first feed – watch them live

Great to see these amazing amphibians on #Springwatch again tonight. Cumbria’s lucky enough to have a population of natterjack toads at NT Sandscale Haws NNR but it’s threatened by proposed development nearby.

Great to see how the Kestrels are getting on with BBC Springwatch. These majestic birds have awesome eyesight, able to spot a beetle from 50 metres away, and get this, can see UV light. Fascinating and beautiful to watch ❤️ #Springwatch

The conditions need to be *just right* for natterjack toads.
They breed in shallow pools with very little vegetation where the water warms up quickly. They don’t hop or jump like frogs so it's easier for them to move through shorter grass!

Plovers aren't just good at camouflage, they're also impressive mimics.
To protect their chicks, they feign wing injuries to lure predators away from the nest. Bravo!

A small wader runs along in front of you, pausing to daintily pick up morsels of food as it goes. Is this a Ringed Plover or the less common summer-visiting Little Ringed Plover? Discover how to identify both species in our video ID guide ➡️ bit.ly/3V3piyD #Springwatch
So interesting learning about Bees on BBC Springwatch tonight! 🐝 Who would've thought they were so smart?! Sadly, these fascinating pollinators face a lot of threats. Try building a bee hotel to give them a home and get your garden buzzing: bit.ly/4aEUx96 #Springwatch
So bumblebees have worked out how to push a button to get a reward, and dance to communicate important information about food - now that's a Great British Bake Off we'd watch!
Bring the party to your garden by planting pollinator-friendly flowers!

The vocal sac of the natterjack toad packs a punch. Their mating call can be heard up to a mile away!

Glad someone hasn't strapped a seal fitbit to us...
Grey seals are a regular sight on the Yorkshire coast, from Flamborough Cliffs down to Spurn Point. Make sure to seal-watch safely from a distance - so that everyone can have a seal-y good time!

A hook-nosed sea pig (or Halichoerus grypus if you prefer) aka grey seal!
We love that nose that sets them apart from their cousins, harbour seals. Maybe we’re biased as we’ve got the North West’s only breeding grey seal colony here redundant account😍 #Springwatch

Did you know Common Seals are sometimes known as ‘Labradors of the sea’?
You can tell them apart from Grey seals by their squashed heads, adorably round large eyes and distinctive V shaped nostrils. 🦭

Have you seen a gossamer-winged beauty - like this Emperor dragonfly - near a wetlands?

Barn Owl😍Breeding success of this species can fluctuate in response to prey abundance. In ‘good’ small mammal years, large broods of around six chicks can be raised, but when small mammal populations are low just one or two chicks may be reared. #Springwatch
