There are so many weird and depressing diet foods (or foods whose popularity has diet-y roots) that have become somewhat normalized within the past 10-15 years-- overnight oats, protein pancakes, chia pudding (which admittedly I love!). I'd love to read a piece on them!!

Saw this a lot in 2021. There'd be ppl laid out and in bad shape, while the police stood nearby, joking with each other and looking for fare evaders. Subway riders were actually pretty kind, but the police, the ones with training and supplies, hung back. Never made sense.
