The Breeders are mourning the sudden passing of Steve Albini. He built worlds.

Britt, Tanya, Josephine, Kim, Kelley, Jim, Mando, Jose and  Richard.

beyond the music, albini's death is reminding me of growing up a weirdo in a small town, finding bread crumbs of inspiration to other paths, slowly figuring shit out, making your own small scene, and wandering around ecstatic and full of life with friends.

He INCLUDED us/you in his brilliance. What a gift. So grateful for him.

i posted this earlier today, before i knew of albini's death. he engineered 2 of their best records.

it's weird that earlier today i was talking about the punk rock ethos that inspired TCI, the maximum rock n roll book your own fuckin' life approach albini inspired in me when i was basically a kid. some folks' influence on us goes so deep. it's always there. it's baked into you.

Steve Albini was the last person in the music industry that actually mattered while maintaining a code of ethics around their work.

You were so generous with your time Steve and I am going to miss you so much. Thank you for everything. 🎈

i've recently had a bunch of old friends resurface into my life, people i hung out with constantly in the '90. god did steve albini soundtrack so many of those days. he inspired me with his insights and writings, too. all he did remains essential. RIP. mpg.org.uk/knowledge-bank…
