I think this a completely pointless arbitrary rule in MH services. Private therapy is often a long-term relationship, involving attachment and offering consistency. Why does that need to be taken away in order to receive targeted support on specific issues in a short term model?

I think we too readily conflate neutrality with being a blank slate, or not being relationally present. It is possible to be both therapeutically neutral when needed, and also grounded in our values and relationally present. Therapy requires all of this, I think.

After this stunt, Steve Barclay won’t have to worry about NHS staff going on strike. He’s shown them such contempt that they’ll all just quit. Problem solved? 🙃

The thing is that I (+ many others), have been talking abt institutional racism & misogyny in health services for many yrs now (see Sway and (M)otherhood) with scientific data but we are still just talking abt this as if it’s something new. When will it be time to take action?

The opposite is true with Just Stop Oil. If you have people willing to do *very outlandish things in public space* and are also risking arrest, imprisonment etc etc it communicates the idea 'well maybe there is a crisis' etc.

We’re looking at a mass exodus of the next gen of maternity staff. Fair pay is a piece of the puzzle but safe conditions are urgently needed. Scandal after scandal shows this to be true. I wish we had a gov that paid more than lip service to this issue.
