Our Ambassador Seán Keane will be walking with us and will entertain us when we arrive home on Sunday 19 May!

The National Famine Way is a self-guided Trail detailing the ill-fated journey of 1,490 famine emigrants who walked from Strokestown Park to Dublin during the Great Irish Famine.

It follows the route of the Royal Canal, along the Greenway through Westmeath via Mullingar.

#OTD in 2000 the Jeanie Johnston was christened by President Mary McAleese - a replica of its namesake, which carried thousands of Irish emigrants to Canada over 1848-1855 - with not a single life lost on any of the voyages. See it docked outside @epicmuseumCHQ! #CANIRL85
