In January UT Austin’s legal team certified that the Department of Campus and Community Engagement, which was disbanded last week, was in compliance with anti-DEI SB 17. Staff from DCCE were in full compliance with the law when they lost their jobs.

Nyeka's family's been in Austin longer than UT Austin. Her great x3 grandfather was enslaved in Travis County.

This year, she became the 1st in her family to attend UT, through a DEI program.
