Transport history is essentially social history: the story of the people who worked, travelled, died. The impact it had one individual lives, communities and people. For good, and for bad.

- a favour, please!

Pam Smith DipGen posed an interesting question recently, which we can't answer: do you know?

What happened to railway staff when they retired, if they'd been in railway accommodation?

Kicked out? Allowed to stay? Moved out but supported elsewhere?

A recently donated image of Low Moorgate shows many landmarks. Grade II Holly House on the right, Teapot Row on the far left and the massive beech tree only recently removed. The first post office & shop in the middle. So many clues.

Just found this image of the winning team in the 1929 Southern Railway Women's Ambulance Competition.

Would love to know who they were!

1st aid was of huge importance on the railways - especially given the numbers of staff hurt at work.

Impact of the coming of massively affected landscape & people when they arrived mid C19. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the routes restructured by the Beeching cuts were restored to reconnect communities? wasn’t happy with cuts but regenerated.
