The number of tillage farmers in Ireland equates to the combined population of Cashel and Mitchelstown. Would the Government stand idly by as the entire economy of two Irish towns is obliterated? We need a Tillage Survival Scheme introduced now.

In light of weather conditions, Irish Farmers' Association is seeking:
- Milk processors to pay a hardship top-up of at least 3c/litre;
- The Department to fast-track payments to farmers;
- Suspension of all farm inspections; and
- Banks/credit unions to offer maximum flexibility to farmers.

Thousands of Irish Farmers' Association members protested across the country last night in solidarity with European farmers. We will take whatever measures needed to deliver for Irish farmers.

I am calling on farmers throughout Ireland to turn out at their local event this evening (Thursday) to express their solidarity with farmers across Europe and to demonstrate their opposition to being regulated out of business by the EU.
