Does anyone know if the Government or any other trustworthy organisation has mapped out the suitable places for onshore wind farms in the UK? I really need to find this if it exists anywhere. Surely it must exist.

I'm in love with plantains.
They are a fab food source for tons of wildlife. And a food and medicinal source for us.
But best of all they are absolutely beautiful. Much better than their cultivated cousins, hostas 💚

Guessing the recent history of a hedge:

1 Hedge got leggy & gappy
2 New whips inter-planted to thicken it out
3 New whips grew straight upwards to get to the light, not creating any more density at base
4 deer not helping..

What would you do to help this hedge?

I have no words…… except to say that whatever force brought these two wonderful eccentrics together proves there’s still some silly loveliness in the world 😀💛

Where have the plane balls gone?

This time of year, the mature seed clusters on plane trees should be disintegrating, covering the pavements and making everyone cough.

But there's nearly no mature seed balls, just this year's flowers turning to seeds.

Anyone seen any??

Sloane Street / Hans Town architecture, London. Reminds me of some NYC old houses with the beautiful Dutch influence. Dear architects, please give us beauty. Above all else.

Really, really happy to say that I have finally submitted my PhD thesis. It's a culmination of 5 long years of tough but incredibly rewarding research on across Ireland. Thanks so much to everyone who supported me through this journey - roll on the viva!

If you do the cooking in your house, tell everyone else there will be no dinner unless they have voted. I will do it (again) with J.

Don't forget to put your May flowers out. This old Irish custom involves gathering flowers on May Eve (or in some places on May day morning) and leaving them in front of the main threshold. It was believed to protect the house from harm or evil.

Folks? My fellow members of the public? Can you PLEASE click on the link in this post below and support Dr Sarah Benn? Please fight for her, too. What has happened to her is wholly unjust, and this wonderful lady and doctor needs our help. So let's give it to her, yes? 😊💪 🙏

PROJECT FEAR LATEST: ‘New post-Brexit checks could increase their costs by up to 60%, pushing up prices for customers and driving some shops out of business’.

Is this the Brexit people voted for?

I imagine now is as good a time as any to announce my new post as the Institute of Historical Research’s Training Fellow in History and the Humanities. I’ll be working across Institute of Historical Research & School of Advanced Study, University of London to support historical research via bespoke training for all career stages.

The red campion is doing well.
This is in my mums wood. She planted all the trees over thirty years ago. So it's not the self seeded part of our plot but it's still wonderful.
The red campion is self seeded though 💚

Turn the sound up. The birds are here because we have trees.
Yesterday we drove across Ireland and saw many trees and hedgerows cut down, lying there, dead, for no good reason.
I know I keep saying it but what about Ireland's biodiversity?
Can it be saved?
