The Alderney Review press conference reveals that number of Jews thought to have died on Alderney is eight. This figure cannot be found explicitly in the report, but it does not change the fact that the number of Jewish deaths is very low compared to what was suspected by some.

While the report acknowledges that the Holocaust did take place on Alderney, it was no 'mini-Auschwitz', and basically only took place in a very, very small way. This, from page 87 of the report, is the KEY passage, especially the last sentence.

I cannot stress how important this is. One of the reasons behind the renewed interest in Alderney's war was because of the fear that the island contained mass Jewish graves, which were going to be disturbed for a large electrical installation.

My piece on the Alderney Review in the Independent. The startling finding for me is that it seems that no more than four Jews died on Alderney. This means that the island's war really cannot be seen as an important component in the story of the Holocaust. independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-nโ€ฆ

The press conference states that the number is more like eight. This figure isn't in the report explicitly, but it does not change the fact that Alderney was no 'mini-Auschwitz', and that the island cannot be considered a key part of the Holocaust story.
