The Fireballs Aotearoa and #globalmeteornetwork cameras have detected meteors from a new #meteor shower produced by #comet 46P/Wirtanen! Although it had low activity (ZHR <= 5), it occurred exactly where and when it was predicted.
And this is just a tiny aspect of this unique fall - it also helped to pinpoint the origin of Earth's water (science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…), the impact history of the parent asteroid (onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…), reveal organic matter in asteroids (onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…), and much more!
Drone paper by Patrick Hill and Libby Tunney focuses on use of infrared imaging to find #meteorites on snow-covered fields. NOT because they are hot when they land but because they absorb more sunlight relative the snow around them!
Read our interpretation of optical, radar, and infrasound data of a daytime #fireball that occurred over Sweden on Dec 4th 2020. Joyful collaboration across Nordic countries, University of Rostock, University of Leicester and more, lead by Juha Vierinen

The magic of open source data / data sharing and multidisciplinary collaborations: Hadrien D, Joshua Soderholm, Andy Tomkins, Seamus Anderson, Dr Rachael Lappan and team found the biggest meteorite strewn field since Murchison in 1969!

Hundreds of tau Herculid meteors were detected last from individual #globalmeteornetwork stations! Data analysis is in progress. Observing in person was also a rare treat, we saw short bursts of 7-8 meteors in a few minutes.

Daniel Thorngren I mean - you may have a point, but I write in a language older than I am (English), so shouldn't I also code in a language older than I am? :) I mean, those new fangled languages are cool, and all, but F77 is still the pick of the bunch :D
