Last night at Hallé St Peter's we celebrated the tenure of Sir Mark Elder before his final concerts as music director of The Hallé next week.

🫶 Thanks to all who came to our very special Rush Hour concert last night, conducted by our incoming Principal Conductor, Kahchun Wong!

It was fantastic to share the stage again with the Hallé Choir as well as Mary Bevan and Ashley Riches.

The The Hallé and Hallé Choir were magnificent last night under their new conductor. What a piece of programming genius too!

We now have our Finland’s thanks to the choral score for Malcolm Arnold’s Peterloo. Playing this piece , by a neglected British composer was a triumph.

As Kahchun Wong prepares to take over The Hallé he conducted tonight’s rush hour concert The Bridgewater Hall with Hallé Choir. How appropriate that one of the first pieces he chose was the Peterloo Overture, commemorating the shocking events of 1819 in Manchester.
