It's the time of year for reflecting and giving thanks, and we at GCHE want to recognize and honor the contributions of everyone working to teach our stories to the next generation.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

-from John McCrae's 'In Flanders Fields'

Friday fun Fauve fact:

Henri Matisse died on this day in 1954. Everyone's favorite Fauvist (born in 1969) had lived through the Franco-Prussian War, both World Wars, and seen the advent of television. For more, check out the Matisse gallery at the Musée d'Orsay.
