It is possible to search for protocols of studies funded by NIHR (using their document search). I can't find anything equivalent for MRC. Does anyone have any ideas?

I am 95% sure that the most common meta-analysis method in Cochrane Reviews is random effects with the DerSimonian and Laird weighting method. Anyone aware of a meta-epidemiological study actually reporting on this (methods of analysis used in Cochrane Reviews?)
