Automobility deepens inequality.

Some cities are interested in tackling this issue. Others, not so much.

Think about how many similar junctions there are all around the UK.

And think about how few people in positions of power ever even mention this, let alone intend to do anything about it.

How infrastructure entrenches inequality, demonstrated in 10 seconds.

I don't know if those with cars are breaking any laws here. But it's clear that those without are being deliberately endangered by the people empowered to design our roads.

Thank you, Liz Clements, for everything you've done to begin to turn the tide on Birmingham's transport justice problem.

This is a setback for anyone who doesn't believe that only car owners should be able to get around our city in safety and dignity.

Every person in a position of authority knows how cheap and easy it would be to pedestrianize streets in front of schools across in cities across the UK.

But better to wait for something like this to happen because car owner convenience matters more than safeguarding.

Adding my appreciation for Adam Tranter's good work.

It's a real achievement to have made our city better while in this role, and I hope others will build on what he has done to make this a greener, fairer, and more pleasant place in which to live and move.
