Hoping to combat crime, San Jose installed its 235th license plate reader this week, and plans to up the number to 500 by the summer. The scanners are collecting millions of plate reads every month, and the city saves the data for a year. Full story here:

While interviewing Mayor Matt Mahan in downtown San Jose, a man was shouting at us and fought Mayor Mahan's security guard.

The fight lasted a couple minutes and the man was arrested by SJPD.

Police said they were compiling evidence and sending it to the DA's office/

SCC Registrar of Voters has completed counting about 75 precincts.

By my count, Joe Simitian has gained 2 votes, Evan Low has gained 1 vote.

Dozens more precincts left to recount in Santa Clara and San Mateo + disqualified ballots being challenged
