Oh my goodness. Looking at my old article about the cost of care homes. Those were the good old days five or six years ago when the cost was a fraction of what it is now. And the position of women carers is not much better. 🙄

The early education sector needs support but it is not beyond repair - with the right funding model, structure and workforce strategy, the next few years are a chance to stabilise and revitalise the system, to lay the foundations of long-term reform.

Low pay, poor working conditions, no career path. A predominantly female workforce so undervalued a workforce strategy isn't a priority. Yet we know children's outcomes are profoundly impacted by early years interventions. What a mess! Early Education and Childcare Coalition

I'm proud to work for the trade union that did so much to win a statutory minimum wage.

We can rightly value that success, at congress, conference, and the ballot box. It took wins at all three.

And I'm proud we're still not satisfied with the settlement for working people.

A special happy all the quiet, invisible women carers out there, who day in day out provide love, complicated and exhausting personal care and companionship to people who need them. Society would crumble without you. ❤️🌟x
