This isn't quite right Britain Elects
2 seats fought in 2021. The one in the 2023 by-election was the one won by Lily Fitzgibbon 🌱 with 45.6% of the vote, so more accurately it's
GRN 50.2% (+4.6)
LAB: 38.1% (+11.4)
and so on
And yes, it's literally a few votes, turnout down by half
I am so delighted that the council has made this decision for The Ardagh. Lily Fitzgibbon 🌱 and I have supported the Ardagh in this since we became councillors, as did our Green Cllr predecessors, this has been a long time in the making. bristolgreenparty.org.uk/green-light-fo…
If you are particularly interested in the arcane machinations of the Bristol City Council budget meeting. AdamPostansLDR is doing a fine job of live-tweeting it.
Great morning with Lily Fitzgibbon 🌱, volunteers and tree officers helping to plant the trees we helped organise on Horfield common. There’s a fruit orchard and an Avenue of Ginko trees so far, doing more in March.
Hope you can make our rally tomorrow (Sat 4th Feb). 12 noon on College Green. Time to come together to show our support for people & planet and call for coherent planning laws that at the moment are out-dated in allowing a major carbon emitter like Bristol Airport - to expand.
🟢 .The Green Party's win in a local Bristol by-election also means that they now hold 12 of the 14 council seats in the new Bristol Central constituency.
Bristol Airport expansion allowed by the High Court.
This is a devastating outcome. It tramples on local democracy and would mean 1000s of extra flights producing a million tonnes of CO2 equivalents every year.
Bristol Airport Action Network - BAAN are going to try to take it to the Court of Appeal.
Bristol Parents for School Streets Lily Fitzgibbon 🌱 We’re delighted as we’ve been pushing for it for over a year. We also got a bid for pencil bollards for Downend rd through for CIL funding. No request to close Downend was put in by the school, and sadly I don’t think it would have got this far if that had been requested.
Me and Lily Fitzgibbon 🌱 are over the moon that Ashley Down School has been picked to have a school street, and know the community consultation will be met with enthusiasm. We have been working with the school for the past year to secure this and are so pleased it is happening!
'People from further out may use the residential streets around the station as a free park-and-ride, and so we will continue to put pressure on the administration for a residents' parking zone,' said Bristol Green Party councillor Lily Fitzgibbon 🌱
Glad this is finally moving! But as Lily Fitzgibbon 🌱 says, we really need to get an RPZ in the area to protect local residents from having their streets turned into a free park-and-ride.
The first bit of casework Lily Fitzgibbon 🌱 and I worked on when we were elected and so we are over the moon at this news. 💚✊🌳 Massive congrats to Save The Ashley Down Oak 💚🌳✊
