I’d also love to share that Lisette Auton does some really wonderful work with children and young people in various communities around the UK. She’s brill!

So, as you may have seen today, an advert for a reboot of a children's book branded a disability as 'disgusting'. Plenty of discourse already about why this is awful, so rather than add more here's a thread of some books with excellent representation that you could enjoy instead.

Not a current giveaway so ignore that bit, but don’t ignore the photo on the right which shows the incredible opening passage of Lisette Auton’s #SecretOfHavenPoint & addresses disability & language clearly, proudly & beautifully. Ableism has no place in children’s literature.

In light of *that* announcement today, I’d like to remind folks of some middle grade books which have authentic disability & chronic illness representation from authors with lived experience.

And where disabilities are NOT used to portray villains.
