Cultural cocoons are so special. Was reminded today of a language club where a group of us would meet twice a week. There, the world as it was, ceased to exist. And we'd speak to each other in a foreign language without ever knowing who the other person was.

Everyone knows that Pakistan is not a functioning democracy. Its restrictions on freedom of expression are well known. Why then do Pakistani officials make a joke of themselves by uttering absurdities like ‘there is greater freedom of media in Pakistan than in the west’ ? 🤔
