Depending on the lineup the Cardinals are starting 6 or 7 position players that have less than 3 full years of MLB experience and average 23.4 years. And they’re doing well. I like watching them play.

Is that a scoop? Yeah Miami is bad. And if the Cardinals lost this series to such a horrible team, what would you say then? Fire everyone, imprison everyone, and seize the franchise through eminent domain. Probably something like that.

Thank you. It isn’t that complicated. After the ‘23 disaster I don’t see why anyone around here would be snotty about the Cardinals beating the Padres and Marlins. And doing it when they have 8 on the IL and Contreras out of the lineup.

Indeed. Last season the Cardinals won the first series (Toronto) - and then won only 1 of their next 9 series. I’ll accept seeing them win 2 of the first 3 three series this year. It’s important to win as many series as you can.

To be fair, the Dodgers are going to be kicking a lot of opponent’s asses, over and over again. The Cardinals aren’t as good as the Dodgers. We knew that before the 1st pitch of the series.

Yep. Another thing: the 2023 Cardinals were around 10 games below .500 against losing teams. The average MLB record against losing teams was 10 games over .500. So IF the Cards do a lot better against losing teams this season, isn’t that part of the recovery?

100 percent right. No doubt about it. Just like last week when K. Gibson pitched so well at San Diego. Crickets. But his first bad start, there will be a feeding frenzy.

Good point. All I heard this spring was fear of a tough early schedule that included a Marlins team that made the playoffs in ‘23. Then Miami suffered drastic pitching injuries — and beating them doesn’t count in standings?

Lot of people keep saying this. I don’t get it. No team makes its own schedule. You play the sked given to you. If an opponent is bad, it’s important to take advantage and beat them. Winning is … good. If Cards lost this series to Miami everybody would be raising hell.

Cardinals are 5-4 after today’s win over Miami. It’s their 1st time above .500 since April 3, 2023. That day they were 2-1 after winning opening series from Toronto. Until now the Cards hadn’t been over .500 in their previous 167 games.
