The Dissemination Workshop took place today in Blantyre for the flood mapping project of the most affected Districts in Malawi for early recovery of communities. A study that was done by OSM-Malawi funded by Open Mapping Hub - Eastern and Southern Africa in partnership with RedCross Society.
The guest of honor, Mr. Moses Chimphepo from DoDMA applauded OSM-Malawi, Red Cross Society and Nkhoma universities NKHOMA UNIVERSITY (NKHUNI) for their efforts in responding to disasters in Malawi.

In April 2024, we received support from OpenMap Development Tanzania as we embarked on building a national Validation Hub for Zambia, which will also be extended to other areas. Today we had another session, pre-validation training, we focused on advanced mapping skills before the validation.

Participatory mapping in progress.We are in Nsanje and local Community members are helping us understand patterns associated with past flooding events. Data generated will help to enrich flood extent maps that we previously generated using satellite imagery.
