Civil servants aren’t independent. They are politically neutral but work for the government of the day. And on this specific task, they have to use assumptions determined by political advisers. Hardly independent analysis in any sense of the word.

The government has forgotten that disability benefits are a good thing. They help disabled people to live full, happy lives. We should be proud as a country of having a system in place that provides disabled people with a safety net, not demonising those who need to use it.
