The prestigious medical journal The Lancet Infectious Diseases has profiled our Deputy Director, Prof Moses Laman, whose research is helping the fight to prevent, detect and treat malaria, lymphatic filariasis and other diseases.

Dr Toliman is taking the audience at the #RuthBishopLecture on the journey to offer innovative point of care testing for HPV in PNG clinics.

Dr Pamela Toliman, a PNGIMR researcher, is speaking of the importance of being able to work on issues that are personally meaningful, such as cervical cancer, which has killed women in her family.

Prof Laman described many successful trials that show better prevention and treatment options. He noted that the challenge is to implement the findings in the context of a lower middle-income country.

Prof Moses Laman is reflecting on the successes of the Institute in the last seven years with many research projects and staff taking up postgraduate studies.
