'The biggest issue is not whether using drugs in public should be legal. It is that people cannot get treatment when they ask for it'. This is it - there is no treatment for those who want it. Just the street or a bleak return home. By Katharine Lake Berz

How to renew your passport in Toronto:
-take TTC to Victoria Street.
-be in line by at least 0800. Staff hand out numbers.
-be sure your documents and photos are ready.
-don't drink coffee so you don't lose your place in line.
-1 hour and 20 minutes flat. Thanks Marc Miller ᐅᑭᒫᐃᐧᐅᓃᐸᐄᐧᐤᐃᔨᐣ

Ontario wants Toronto not to decriminalize and ER doctors have no option but to discharge patients who seek to detox but there are no services or beds available. Not a positive situation. Sylvia Jones Dr. Eileen de Villa Michael Kerzner

It will not be nurses and doctors that protect Ontario’s publicly funded system, it will be average citizens who care about what kind of society we want.

If you ask doctors I’m sure you’ll find 95% work when ill. You can only call in sick so much, and in medicine - no work, no pay. No benefits - you eat what you work and earn. There is no “team” when it comes to being sick. You are on your own.

I support federal Conservative MP Doherty's Private Member's Bill C-321 awaiting 2nd reading in the Senate. It amends the Criminal Code when first responders and healthcare workers are assaulted making it an 'Aggravating circumstance'. This happens, daily. Todd Doherty

From our public hospitals’ core services to the next 30 years of LTC homes, Doug Ford is trying to privatize our healthcare.

I would like 1 regulated health professional using their real name, without compromising patient confidentiality to cite direct experience with a car accident victim 'fighting for their life' with someone beside them 'smoking a crack pipe' with a 'large machete' and that same

We are all inured to just shovelling out money to go to work at the hospital. They give with one hand, they take with the other. Wayne Gates

Ontarians deserve timely, cost-free access to healthcare services. Right now in our province, patients who need regular dialysis or other treatments for chronic conditions must fork over hundreds of dollars each year just to park at our public hospitals.

The most common substance used in ER in my experience is alcohol. Security confiscates it and on leaving, the patient's property is returned. ER is not set-up for active substance use and doesn't facilitate use. We have enough to do. Stephanie Levitz

23 years in ER and I have not see a car accident victim 'fighting for their life' with someone smoking a crack pipe beside them with a 'large machete' where staff said 'sorry it's allowed now' and we are forbidden to remove the drugs or weapon 'so you're just going to have to

Hospital employment isn't a right. Staff must have TB testing, MMR, varicella immunity, Tdap, HepB immunity, N95 testing, Labour Ministry modules and COVID vaccination. With the privilege to serve, comes responsibility. Or seek employment elsewhere.

I’d argue the 3 pillars in ER are quality, bedside manner and productivity. Be fast, be kind, be right. Dr. Mark Bonta, MD, FRCPC - as you shift one priority you shift the others. A lifetime pursuit.
