So many happy memories of time over 35 years with Sir Andrew Davis. His laughter was infectious, his music making natural and inspiring, his commitment to new and British music unwavering. So many reasons to mourn his loss but celebrate the joy and privilege of having known him.

An edge-of-the-seat Felix Mendelssohn programme at Britten Pears Arts tonight with András Schiff and OAE. Piano Concerto No. 1 and Symphony No. 1 made a spellbinding first half, followed by a vivacious ‘Italian’ Symphony No. 4 - commissioned by the Philharmonic Society in 1832.

A special night at the Concert Hall as Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, led by Sir András Schiff, presented an all-Mendelssohn programme. An evening to remember.
