troubledchild Richard III Society If the banqueting suite at Sudeley wasn't commissioned by Richard, then we're left with having to explain which other stratospherically rich, late 15th century elite, who was aware of innovative architecture was the patron. There just doesn't seem to be another candidate 🙂

Sharing my favourite image of Cecily duchess of York on her birthday - and if anyone still believes that TV show about her alleged adultery, please see Livia Visser-Fuchs's excellent article in The Ricardian: richardiii.net/wp-content/upl…

Edward IV claimed to have secretly married his queen, Elizabeth, on 1st May, the most romantic day of the medieval year. There's a lovely article on Elizabeth's device - the gillyflower or pink - at richardiii.net/wp-content/upl…

Ah May. The month of courtship. Hardly a 'Labour of the Month' as these things go. Except perhaps for the boatman. (Add MS 35313, f. 3v)

in 1483, Anthony Woodville met with Richard, Duke of Gloucester on friendly terms at Northampton, whilst on the way to London with their young nephew, Edward V. Edward had supposedly moved onto Stony Stratford, but the Woodvilles’ home of Grafton was 5 miles away.
