Hang on…

Thames Water had zero debt when it was privatised in 1989, it currently has £15.6bn.

How much have these ‘lenders’ syphoned off; why is no-one going to prison; and why is the public purse liable for this catastrophic failure?

Investors [sic] should be liable surely?

With Thames Water’s impending renationalisation, we finally see that privatisation is legalised theft.

British taxpayers are now faced with the daunting task of assuming a massive £15.6bn debt, a stark testament to privatisation’s failure.

Say what you want about the Daleks, but when they took over from Thames Water in 2150AD, they did improve water safety standards.

John Collingridge Anna Isaac Yet more shitewash, from Thames Water, and more importantly , yet more attempted theft from the public purse from both them and their Tory mates! When will we see arrests from both groups for this and other fraud and theft, conspiracy to commit , these scams amount to?

Thames Water could be nationalised with Govt taking on its £15bn debt.

Wrong.

Thames can't repay debt. Alternative value of assets (pipes/reservoirs) is low. Logic of capitalism dictates that lenders take a hit.

Govt only needs to pay pennies in the £.

Water companies like to tell you all about the investment they make in Thames Water 💧's case at least it's a lie.

Every single year since privatisation shareholders have taken out more cash form the company than they ever put in, every single year.

You've been had.

'Thames Water lenders face losses of up to 40% in event of nationalisation.'

This is without doubt the stupidest approach to dealing with @Thameswater that anyone has suggested but then again we are dealing with this govt. That is why I'm not surprised?
