I was delighted to collect my #MBE for services to the Community from the Princess Royal at the investiture ceremony in Winsor castle last week. Big thanks to all my friends, colleagues, and the wider community at the Afghan CW who always encouraged and supported me.

Today is International Day of Human Space Flight, marking the first human space flight more than 60 years ago. In 1988, #Afghanistan sent is first cosmonaut to the MIR station, later replaced by the International International Space Station, and Pashto became fourth language spoken in space.

Afghan women do not accept this systematic exclusion from public life and these restrictions on their right to learn, work and have a voice. They will not give up. They are #UnstoppableWomen .

Fantastic news that Zakir Hussain, the revered Indian tabla maestro & musician, won the Grammy Award at the Best Global Music Performance category with his track 'Pashto'. This remarkable win is not only for #Pashto music but also underscores his exceptional musical artistry.

Heartbroken to learn that Fahim Azimi, my former student at Kabul University, is arbitrarily detained. Fahim, full of life, worked for education and managed the Afghan girls' robotic team post-graduation. Now, in prison for his dedication. This injustice must end. #FreeFahim

Afghan women now depend on men in their family or even neighbours to access basic services and healthcare. At this point, the Taliban’s mahram rules seem to be an excuse to further exclude women from society. #Afghanistan #GenderApartheid
