Sulaiman Addonia - take a bow! Not for the feeble-hearted. Do you like your heart ripped out, your comfort zone shaken and are you ready to face a barrage of relevant questions asked unflinchingly? The last line of the book is so PERFECT! Huge respect!

Leaving London for Brussels has changed my writing.
In this cover interview with Liza Noteris, VERZIN magazine, I talk about taking risks and writing from as close to the edge as possible.

Egypt has acted appallingly towards the people of Sudan.

Maintaining a hard border and a hard visa regime in the face of war is inexcusable.

Media saturated with anguished accounts of 000s of Sudanese stranded at border, insensitive treatment by border control officials.

Sudan is a magnanimous country with a habit of letting in civilians fleeing conflict from neighbouring states.

Today, Sudan needs its neighbours to repay that debt.

I appeal to neighbouring states to let in Sudanese civilians escaping fighting without restrictions.

Read a touching new essay from SILENCE IS MY MOTHER TONGUE author Sulaiman Addonia in the New York Times: On how a language barrier can both limit and liberate.

Read Sulaiman Addonia's excellent personal essay in New York Times Books about how language bounds us but also frees us — especially in the case of a mother who can't read or write and a son who is a thriving novelist. nytimes.com/2023/04/05/boo…
