The FTC ruling on non-competes may or may not survive in court, but in Maryland, non-competes will be strictly limited as of July 1, 2025 thanks to the efforts of many concerned patients, health care professionals, and veterinarians. #HB1388 will be signed into law tomorrow!

The FTC has BANNED non-compete agreements (restrictive covenants)! These new regulations have the force of law, but are guaranteed to be challenged in court. This applies to physicians (see pp 50-54). This is a win for the doctor-patient relationship!

-Non-competes still allowed for healthcare workers making $350k+ but cannot exceed 1 year/10 miles.
-If a doctor leaves a practice, that practice MUST tell former pts where he/she is currently working upon request.

WE DID IT! Non-competes for most health care workers will soon be illegal in MD!
