Last night, we were honoured & moved to watch @Middlesbrough councillors pass a motion to
- refuse to cooperate with any Government plans to build or repurpose facilities to detain or warehouse people seeking safety
- defend the right to seek safety & fight the #AntiRefugeeLaws
'Punitive and inhumane'- yesterday many Peers called out the Govts #RefugeeBanBill for what it is.
Cruel and hostile, it rides roughshod over the refugee convention and shreds human rights protections, punishing people who seek safety in the UK.

There are no safe routes to the UK from Sudan for refugees- how can people who urgently need to leave to seek safety here? They can't!
Instead of creating safe routes the #RefugeeBanBill will see people who need protection locked up.
